Situation Report from Iraq

Situation Report from Iraq

Assyrian_Camp_Ankawa (1 of 1)

I have been traveling around Iraq and visiting a number Internally Displaced Persons camps which are full of Assyrians and Yezidis. The situation is, regrettably, settling into a new and depressing normal.

While housing for many Asyrians, especially in Ankawa, Iraq (pictured above) has moved from tents to conex boxes converted into mini-trailers, things are still cramped, hot, dusty and a long ways from real homes. Two or three families are often crammed into the small trailers that, set up in row, stretch on and on holding thousand of Assyrian Christians. Many are wondering if they will ever see their houses, property and land again.

This June, 2015, in an expansion of our ongoing mission to help the displaced peoples of the Nineveh Plain, Restore Nineveh Now Foundation will launch a special fund to meet the needs of those who have been forced into these camps throughout Northern Iraq. Please sign up for our newsletter and stay tuned for to how we all can help.

Thank you,

Jeff Gardner
