The ministry provides on-site monitoring services at Acacia to ensure that the contractor meets the requirements of the contract. The Ministry has also entered into a contract with Western Liberty Group for the provision of court security and custody services in the central courts and the district court building (DCB contract). The treaty stresses the need to ensure prison security while providing appropriate programs for inmates aimed at reducing relapses and creating opportunities for innovation in private and public prisons. Broadspectrum acquired the service provider of Serco Australia in March 2017. In December 2020, Serco Australia Pty Ltd successfully won a replacement contract, which will start in May 2021. The contract will initially be for a five-year term with two renewal options of up to five years each. The replacement contract provides that Serco will operate and maintain Acacia Prison.
